During the round table the speakers informed the participants on the updated general information on the country, including: FTA agreements in force for Ukraine, EU-Ukraine relations and perspectives for further legislative and economic integration, GDP and export/import dynamics, followed by specific information on the sectors of interest and opportunities for business, particular legal aspects of the Ukrainian market. The round table was closed by Mrs. Marinella Loddo who explained what is the role of ICE Italian Trade Agency in the international development of the Italian companies, including the activities ICE office is doing in Kiev.

Ukraine is the largest market within Europe and the crossroads for the key markets of the region: Europe, CIS, Asia and the Middle East. It is a country with a 40million + consumer market, rich in mineral and natural resources, with a low-cost but qualified labour force. The country is finally seeing signs of recovery in 2016 (in terms of GDP) and offers interesting opportunities in some sectors of business, especially in agriculture, infrastructure and energy. Ukraine has 1/3 of the world’s stock of the most fertile black soils, it is the world leader in the export of sunflower seeds and oil, on the 2nd place in terms of export of wheat and on the 3rd – of corn. Though development of the agri-food sector is retarded by such factors as outdated infrastructure and machinery, undeveloped legislation and commodities-oriented export, it offers great opportunities for business. Moreover, Ukraine has big plans for the development of infrastructure and energy projects, mostly on public-private partnership basis.
